Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack

Harmonic•New York, NY
•$180,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Harmonic is seeking full-stack engineers to join one of three teams: Discovery, Flow, or Ecosystem. The Discovery team builds the intelligence layer for Harmonic, transforming unstructured data into structured knowledge about startups, investors, and people, and developing an agentic research system for VCs. The Flow team builds Harmonic's deal management system natively on top of the knowledge graph, allowing VCs to manage deals, track companies, and collaborate within the platform. The Ecosystem team focuses on making Harmonic accessible wherever investors work and integrating data from those surfaces back into the product. This role is approximately 70% back-end focused and requires experience building full-stack products at scale, ideally as a founding engineer or by joining a product early and helping to scale it. The ideal candidate has a track record of shipping high-quality products, possesses strong core CS principles, and understands how to build highly performant products. Experience building and scaling data pipelines for products that rely on large datasets is essential. The role involves turning ambiguity into clarity by building scalable, performant, and observable systems from first principles, balancing technical, product, and organizational tradeoffs. A customer-obsessed mindset, a methodical approach to building (measured, experimental, and quick learning), and an interest in venture capital and the startup ecosystem are highly valued.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience building full-stack products at scale.
  • Ideally been a founding engineer, or joined a product early and helped scale it.
  • A record of shipping high-quality product.
  • Build with core CS principles and have a strong understanding of how to build highly performant products.
  • Experience building and scaling data pipelines for products that rely on large datasets.
  • Skilled at turning ambiguity into clarity: building scalable, performant, and observable systems from first principles while balancing technical, product, and organizational tradeoffs.
  • Customer obsessed. Love building products for customers and are always looking to improve their experience.
  • Methodical in how you build. Believe in being measured, in experimenting, and in learning quickly.
  • An interest in venture capital and the startup ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer-facing features and experiences end to end, from the customer's perspective, so that what you ship works exceptionally well.
  • Build scalable, performant, and observable systems from first principles, from the data and pipelines underneath a feature to the full-stack product experience on top of it.
  • Ship fast, measure what happens, and iterate, treating every release as a chance to learn something real about the product and the customer.
  • Work cross-functionally with Design, Product, and GTM to build with a customer-first mentality.
  • Constantly question and explore how we can improve our product experience.
