About The Position

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Fulfillment to design, build, and implement software solutions to optimize and scale the Instacart platform and related technologies with an emphasis on fulfillment operations. This role involves developing highly scalable software, analyzing and optimizing SQL queries, determining design solutions for programming challenges, and leveraging AI toolsets to improve engineering quality and accelerate development processes. The position is remote and may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States, reporting to the San Francisco, CA headquarters.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
2 years of experience in the job offered or related.
2 years of experience working with Java, Ruby, Python, or similar programming languages.
2 years of experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar data management systems.
2 years of experience working with client/server architectures and application architectures.
2 years of experience working with large codebases on cross-functional teams.
2 years of experience employing advanced AI toolsets to accelerate development processes.
2 years of experience deriving insights from complex data sets.
Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and implement software solutions to optimize and scale the Instacart platform and related technologies with an emphasis on fulfillment operations.
Develop highly scalable software using innovative computer science and software engineering principles while ensuring proper protocols are in place to rapidly roll out upgrades and new features.
Analyze and optimize expensive SQL queries; execute ongoing testing and analysis of current systems, including independent performance analysis, diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
Determine design solutions to problematic programming; analyze and refine complex architectures and propose new systems to improve delivery and operational excellence.
Leverage AI toolsets to accelerate development processes and establish new standards to improve the engineering quality of partner-centric products.
