Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • C/C++ programming experience, preferably in a real-time, embedded software.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading a software team through a development process.
  • 8+ years identifying complex problems, evaluating options, and developing solutions for software executing on real-time operating systems.
  • 8+ years’ experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in the planning, design, and development of solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years DO-178B experience (DAL A or B preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks or LynxOS)
  • 8+ years’ experience with software engineering processes and procedures, including writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintaining of flight-critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation solutions and avionics products.
  • Utilize embedded Linux operating systems, C/C++ code, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interface tools, simulations, and integrated development environments in creative ways for this new product.
  • Specify requirements, implement software, develop test procedures, perform verification, and complete artifacts for certification.
  • Take ownership of the technical, schedule, and cost aspects of team tasks and complete work in accordance with the project plan while assisting others in task planning and execution.
  • Contribute to the development of a project plan, including estimating task size, working dependencies, and discovering risks and opportunities.
  • Participate in, and potentially lead, an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating team efforts, asking questions, communicating status, raising issues, brainstorming ideas, helping others, practicing active listening, and promoting a collaborative environment.
