Zipline is building systems that power its operations end-to-end, aiming to design faster, smarter workflows, connect data across the business, and remove friction. The Enterprise Systems team develops software that integrates manufacturing, supply chain, finance, inventory, hardware quality assurance, and field operations into a single operational nervous system. These systems are crucial for Zipline's ability to manufacture, test, deploy, and operate its global drone fleet efficiently. Unlike most companies that adapt operations to off-the-shelf software, Zipline builds its own systems, allowing the software to evolve with the business and ensuring business processes inform system design. This approach enables rapid iteration on workflows, automation of complex operations, and continuous improvement as the company scales. Engineers on this team own the product and collaborate directly with end users, including manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and field operations teams. This direct engagement allows engineers to identify problems, design and build end-to-end solutions, and deliver systems with immediate company-wide impact. The role is unique as it sits at the intersection of software and real-world operations, determining the efficiency of aircraft manufacturing, inventory movement, traceability, asset deployment, and global delivery network support. It involves building ERP from scratch, taking extreme ownership from problem identification to deployment and adoption, and being embedded with real operations. The team also heavily leverages AI and agentic workflows to accelerate development while maintaining strong engineering rigor.
