About The Position

The Advanced Product and Solutions organization at RTX provides the joint warfighter with actionable information from an unblinking eye across the battlespace. By joining the APS Engineering team you’ll have the opportunity to design, develop and test product capabilities for Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, integrated sensor suites, precision targeting, multispectral EO/IR targeting systems, Pilot Situational Awareness, Special mission aircraft and Strategic and tactical ISR Systems. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer – Embedded to join our Electro-Optical & Infrared (EO/IR) Solutions Engineering Team in McKinney, TX, which is part of our Advanced Products & Solutions group. This position is for a Senior Software Engineer who has educational and professional experience in the development and implementation of software for real-time applications.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant engineering experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for an additional 2 years of experience.
  • Software development experience, including: Developing on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real Time Operating Systems.
  • Applying object-oriented programming and C++ design paradigms.
  • Coding in C, C#, Java or closely related software languages.
  • Developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++.
  • Experience in computer scripting language such as Shell/Perl/Python.
  • Experience working with multi-discipline team(s).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret with Special Access Program U.S. government issued security clearance after start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and utilization, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach.
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab for repository management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experienced in developing in CUDA to accelerate compute-intensive workloads on Nvidia GPUs.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi-disciplined team. This would include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
  • Uses and provides creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
  • Works closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
  • Onsite role in McKinney, Texas, with local residency or relocation required.
  • This position will require occasional business-related travel, up to 5-10%.
