About The Position

Verkada is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Developer AI team, which builds infrastructure, tools, and agentic workflows used by Verkada engineers. The team’s work includes running coding agents asynchronously at scale, building frameworks to evaluate agent quality, and integrating AI tooling into the company’s monorepo and developer workflows. The role has company-wide impact, as the services and tools developed will be used by engineers across Verkada. The position is onsite at Verkada’s headquarters in San Mateo, California.

Requirements

At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
Proven experience shipping production systems, including agentic or automation-heavy workflows.
Strong hands-on coding ability in Go and Python.
Experience building systems that interact with APIs, tools, and external services, beyond prompt-based interfaces.
Demonstrated ability to define metrics and rigorously evaluate system performance.
Experience writing clear technical design documents and driving alignment.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with agent frameworks or orchestration systems.
Experience in monorepo environments.
Experience working on developer productivity tools.
Startup or early-stage team experience.

Responsibilities

Build AI infrastructure to increase productivity for Verkada engineers.
Design systems that run AI agents asynchronously while balancing security, cost, and usability.
Help define the Developer AI roadmap and lead planning.
Create frameworks to evaluate agent performance.
Partner with security, product, and infrastructure teams to launch and support services.
Document and teach AI best practices to engineers across the company.
Help grow the team.
