About The Position
Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking skills, and are passionate about creating clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. Speechify aims to be the easiest way to consume information through listening, offering services for web articles, cloud documents, and mobile books, with a focus on making learning easier, deeper, and faster. Requirements
- Systems thinking: ability to design end-to-end systems and value simplicity.
- Speed: ability to generate ideas and options quickly and prioritize effectively.
- Focus: ability to engage or work heads-down in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Collaboration: ability to inspire, play, and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs.
- Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience is acceptable, but the role is Kotlin Multiplatform focused).
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with GCP.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via the cross-platform SDK.
- Optimize existing functionality for faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
