About The Position

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking skills, and are passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. The ideal candidate will have strong systems thinking, the ability to work quickly and focus in a fast-paced startup environment, and excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Systems thinking: ability to design end-to-end systems and value simplicity.
Speed: ability to generate ideas and options quickly and prioritize what can ship now.
Focus: ability to engage or be heads down as needed in a busy, remote startup environment.
Collaboration: ability to inspire, play, and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs.
Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable, but the role is Kotlin Multiplatform focused).

Prior experience with GCP.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects and find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback.
Navigate integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
Optimize existing functionality, such as improving loading speed and parsing intelligence, by designing more efficient abstractions and algorithms.
Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
