About The Position

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking skills, and are passionate about creating clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly improve the user experience. Speechify aims to be the easiest way for people to consume information through audio, similar to what streaming services have done for entertainment, and is experiencing significant growth as the #1 product in its category.

Requirements

Systems thinking: ability to understand that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and valuing simplicity.
Speed: ability to generate ideas and options quickly and discern what can be shipped immediately versus what requires more time.
Focus: ability to engage effectively and know when to be heads-down in a fast-paced startup environment.
Collaboration: ability to inspire, engage, and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs.
Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).
Prior experience with GCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, identify opportunities to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs.
Deliver solutions through Speechify's cross-platform SDK.
Optimize existing functionality to improve aspects like loading speed and parsing intelligence by designing more efficient abstractions and enhancing algorithms.
Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
