About The Position
Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking abilities, and are passionate about creating clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly improve the user experience. Requirements
- Systems thinking: ability to design end-to-end systems and understanding the value of simplicity.
- Speed: ability to generate ideas and options quickly and determine what can ship now versus what needs more time.
- Focus: ability to engage or be heads down in a busy, remote startup environment.
- Collaboration: ability to inspire, play, and negotiate with designers, marketers, and PMs.
- Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).
- Prior experience with GCP is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via the cross-platform SDK.
- Optimize existing functionality for faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
