About The Position

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking abilities, and are dedicated to designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. Speechify aims to be the easiest way for people to listen to the world's information, including web articles, cloud documents, and books, offering tools to make learning easier, deeper, and faster. Requirements

Systems thinking: Ability to understand that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and a belief in the value of simplicity.
Speed: Ability to work quickly to generate ideas and options, and to decide which items can ship now and which require more time.
Focus: Ability to engage effectively and know when to be heads down in a fast-paced startup environment.
Collaboration: Ability to inspire, play, and negotiate with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs.
Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with GCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects.
Find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers.
Navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams.
Deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
Optimize existing functionality to ship improvements like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
