About The Position

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is critical for individuals who thrive at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possess strategic thinking skills, and are passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience. Requirements

Systems thinking: Ability to understand that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and a belief in the value of simplicity.
Speed: Ability to work quickly to generate ideas and options, and to discern which items can ship immediately versus those requiring more time.
Focus: Ability to engage effectively or work heads-down in a busy, remote startup environment.
Collaboration: Skill in inspiring, playing, and negotiating with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs.
Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).

Prior experience with GCP.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects.
Find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers.
Navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams.
Deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK.
Optimize existing functionality to ship improvements like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
