About The Position

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core Experiences Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms. The role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of product and infrastructure, possesses strategic thinking skills, and is passionate about creating clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly improve the user experience. Requirements

Systems thinking: Ability to understand that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and a belief in the value of simplicity.
Speed: Ability to generate ideas and options quickly and to discern which items can be shipped immediately versus those requiring more time.
Focus: Ability to engage effectively or work heads-down in a fast-paced, remote startup environment.
Collaboration: Skill in inspiring, playing, and negotiating with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs.
Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Java experience is acceptable, but the role emphasizes Kotlin Multiplatform).

Prior experience with GCP.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects.
Identify opportunities to reduce scope for faster customer feedback.
Navigate integration and UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams.
Deliver solutions through the cross-platform SDK.
Optimize existing functionality for improvements such as faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and enhancing algorithms.
Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
