About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer, AI Systems to help build the foundation that enables AI-powered engineering across Homebase. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, developer productivity, workflow automation, and modern software development. Your mission is to create the systems, tooling, workflows, and platform capabilities that enable engineers to effectively leverage AI throughout the software development lifecycle. You’ll work on problems such as: How do we help engineers move faster without sacrificing quality, reliability, or security? How do we create reusable platforms and workflows that scale across teams? How do we evaluate and operationalize emerging AI capabilities responsibly? Some of your work will involve AI-enabled systems. Some will look like traditional platform engineering. Most of it will sit somewhere in between. Success in this role is measured not only by the software you build directly, but by the impact you create across the broader engineering organization. These are the key ways you’ll contribute and create impact in this role: Build workflow automation, orchestration services, and agentic capabilities that improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery velocity. Create shared developer platforms and experiences that help teams effectively incorporate AI into their workflows. Design evaluation, observability, and operational frameworks that improve the reliability and effectiveness of AI-enabled systems. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design, Data, Infrastructure, and Security teams to understand needs and deliver practical, high-impact solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies and help determine where they create meaningful value for engineers, customers, and the business. Establish repeatable patterns and best practices that allow teams to safely adopt new capabilities at scale. Contribute to technical direction, architecture decisions, engineering standards, and platform strategy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience building AI-powered developer platforms, workflow automation systems, agentic workflows, or similar engineering productivity tooling
  • Strong backend engineering experience building production systems
  • Experience designing APIs, services, distributed systems, and developer platforms
  • Strong system design and software architecture fundamentals
  • Experience operating and supporting software in production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to own projects from concept through deployment
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
