About The Position

TetraScience is seeking a Senior .NET Engineer to design and develop high-performance, scalable applications using C#, .NET, and TypeScript. The role involves building backend services, cloud APIs, and responsive front-end applications, as well as implementing automated testing and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines. The candidate will contribute to production debugging, observability, and operational excellence across distributed systems, and should have experience with AWS cloud services. The engineer will work with product managers, tech leads, and other engineers to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions. The role covers software in both on-premises/customer-hosted and cloud-native multi-tenant environments. TetraScience describes its mission as building Tetra OS, an operating system for scientific intelligence that helps life sciences organizations turn fragmented scientific data into AI-native assets and workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in backend service development using C#/.NET.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React for front-end UI.
  • Experience building and operating software in on-premises/customer-hosted and cloud-native multi-tenant environments, including understanding differences in debugging, deployment, and scaling.
  • Production experience with AWS DynamoDB, RDS, and SQS, or an equivalent cloud provider.
  • Experience with microservices patterns, including service discovery, API gateways, messaging/queueing, and data partitioning.
  • Experience with automated testing at multiple levels.
  • Strong Git skills and hands-on experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for distributed systems in production.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture and AWS best practices.
  • Familiarity with observability tools and practices, including OpenTelemetry, structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics-based alerting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical mindset and high attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Docker and experience defining AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
  • Experience with performance tuning and designing scalable solutions.
  • Experience with or exposure to scientific instrument software or Chromatography Data Systems (CDS), such as Waters Empower, Thermo Chromeleon, Cytiva UNICORN, or Agilent OpenLab, and knowledge of instrument integration patterns and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and maintain distributed applications with attention to performance, scalability, and security.
  • Develop backend services primarily with C#/.NET and TypeScript, cloud APIs, and modern responsive front-end applications using TypeScript/React.
  • Design and implement loosely coupled, independently deployable microservices using AWS services such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, Lambda, and API Gateway.
  • Create and maintain automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests across microservices and UI layers.
  • Implement and maintain backend and frontend CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues in distributed systems, including service-to-service communication, CPU, memory, and network bottlenecks, and AWS service performance.
  • Instrument services with OpenTelemetry or equivalent tools to improve fault detection, alerting, and operational visibility.
  • Contribute to SLO definition and efforts to reduce MTTR across the platform.
  • Collaborate with product managers, tech leads, and engineers to deliver reliable, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity.
  • Strong benefits, including 100% employer-paid benefits for eligible employees and their immediate family members.
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO).
  • 401K.
