About The Position

Sonos is hiring a Senior Software Development Manager to lead its App Experience team of 18–20 engineers across iOS and Android. The team builds mobile control and playback experiences used by millions of Sonos customers. The manager will set technical and organizational direction, coordinate work across platforms, and partner with Product, UX, Engineering Operations, the broader Software Control organization, executive stakeholders, and external partner companies. The role combines people leadership—including coaching, performance management, career development, promotion cases, hiring, and team building—with responsibility for product direction, cross-team initiatives, and app release health. The position is hybrid and requires living within commuting distance of Sonos’s downtown Seattle office and working there at least two days per week. The base salary range is $192,000–$240,400, with the specific offer dependent on location, qualifications, and experience. Compensation details in the posting reflect base salary only; bonus, equity, and benefits are not included in that range. Sonos cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the country of the role now and in the future.

  • Partner with teams across the Software Control organization to prioritize and collaborate on projects beyond the immediate App Experience scope.
  • Align roadmap, staffing, and technical direction with Product, UX, and Engineering Operations.
  • Improve the product experience using feedback from internal stakeholders, including executives, and external partner companies such as Apple and Google.
  • Coordinate app release readiness across concurrent release tracks, triage release-blocking issues, and help keep releases on schedule.
  • Build and advocate for engineers’ promotion and business cases in collaboration with HR partners and organizational leadership.
  • Participate in hiring and team building, including interviewing, evaluating candidates, coordinating mentorship, and making decisions about intern conversions to full-time employment.
  • Run and participate in iterative team workshops to prototype and de-risk app experience concepts.
