About The Position

Schwab Asset Management Solutions (SAMS) Technology is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for the company’s use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations and client and business applications. SAMS Technology is aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAMS) which is the investment advisor for Schwab’s proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab’s exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™. With over $370bn in assets under management, SAMS is the 3rd largest provider of index funds and the 7th largest provider of money market funds. This Senior Manager – InvestorTools Perform Platform Engineering role is a high-impact position responsible for driving the design, configuration, and customization of the InvestorTools Perform platform, Credit Scope, and in-house portfolio construction applications. The role combines hands-on execution with strategic oversight, partnering closely with product owners and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, business-aligned solutions. Operating at the intersection of business and technology, this leader translates complex requirements into technology-ready solutions and ensures seamless implementation—either in-house or in collaboration with vendors. The role also plays a key part in Agile delivery, leading testing efforts and supporting user acceptance testing to ensure high-quality, production-ready outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of expertise in Fixed Income Separately Managed Accounts (SMA), with proven leadership in InvestorTools Perform configuration, customization, and platform development.
  • Current working experience with Schwab systems and processes.
  • Recognized in-house expert driving platform capabilities across Task Scheduler, upgrades, custom reporting, and advanced business configurations for trading and portfolio workflows.
  • Strong data expertise with advanced SQL, data analysis, and data mapping capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Driving the design, configuration, and customization of the InvestorTools Perform platform, Credit Scope, and in-house portfolio construction applications.
  • Translating complex requirements into technology-ready solutions and ensuring seamless implementation—either in-house or in collaboration with vendors.
  • Leading testing efforts and supporting user acceptance testing to ensure high-quality, production-ready outcomes.
  • Leading requirements gathering and transforming complex business needs into scalable epics, user stories, and solutions.
  • Proactively resolving critical production issues.
  • Serving as a trusted vendor liaison and techno-functional SME, influencing product direction and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Enhancing investment operations and decision-making with strong domain knowledge in municipal bond trading and SMA business processes.
  • Championing Agile delivery with expertise in developing epics, themes, user stories, and business rules.
  • Providing additional technical depth with .NET and object-oriented programming experience.
