About The Position

The Amazon Advertising organization is democratizing advanced advertising capabilities, providing millions of sellers and brands with access to sophisticated optimization tools previously exclusive to agencies or expensive third-party providers. This role involves building the next generation of agentic AI systems to transform how advertisers interact with Amazon's platform. By integrating innovative large language models, autonomous agents, and Amazon's first-party data on shopper behavior and conversion patterns, the team aims to create intelligent systems that reason, plan, and act on behalf of advertisers, delivering insights and optimizations that surpass manual campaign management. The Senior Software Engineer will lead technical vision and innovation to revolutionize advertiser success on Amazon, joining a newly formed team to build a horizontal agentic AI layer—the next generation of AI-powered marketing experts for campaign creation, management, and optimization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques

Responsibilities

  • Drive the engineering strategy.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver complex end-to-end AI solutions.
  • Architect and implement robust systems in ambiguous problem areas where both the business problem and solution approach need to be defined.
  • Tackle problems requiring significant technical innovation at the product level, from guiding less experienced sellers through campaign setup to automatically surfacing optimization opportunities that unlock advertiser success.
  • Take ownership of the long-term technical vision, product roadmaps, and technologies, defining how they should evolve.
  • Build consensus through thoughtful discussions with stakeholders, scientists, and engineering peers across multiple teams.
  • Bring deep expertise to provide context for current and future technology choices.
  • Make strategic recommendations on system architecture and implementation approaches to achieve transformative business outcomes, strengthening Amazon's advertising ecosystem and helping more advertisers thrive.
