About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Developer (EDI) for a full-time, 100% U.S.-based remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role owns functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules to ensure accurate transaction processing and support business operations. The position interprets and troubleshoots healthcare EDI transaction sets, analyzes SNIP compliance and partner-specific validation rules, documents mapping and logical requirements, and works with business stakeholders to resolve issues and assess operational impact. The developer supports audit and compliance reviews and maintains data quality guardrails. The role collaborates with EDI analysts, DevSecOps engineers, cloud teams, business teams, and integration specialists on AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS flows. It validates data exchanged with non-X.12 partners, investigates issues introduced by middleware or APIs, queries SQL transaction details, validates payloads and transaction statuses, and reconciles differences between raw EDI and stored data. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must possess or qualify for Public Trust (MBI). The position is W-2. Candidates residing in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. The stated salary range is $85,389–$116,975.
