About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Senior Software Developer focused on EDI for a full-time, 100% U.S.-based remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role owns functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules to ensure accurate transaction processing and support business operations. It involves interpreting and troubleshooting healthcare transaction sets, analyzing SNIP compliance and partner-specific validation rules, documenting mappings and logical requirements, and working with stakeholders to resolve issues and assess operational impact. The developer will collaborate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps Engineers, cloud teams, business teams, and integration specialists. The role includes supporting AS2, SFTP, and HTTPS integrations; validating data exchanged with non-X.12 partners; investigating middleware and API issues; querying SQL transaction details; validating payloads, timestamps, statuses, and error flags; and reconciling differences between raw EDI and stored data. The position also supports audit and compliance reviews and maintains data quality guardrails. The opportunity requires U.S. citizenship and possession of, or eligibility for, a Public Trust (MBI). Applicants selected are subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The position is not open to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington. This is a W-2 position. Interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with the camera on, and applicants are asked to provide a LinkedIn profile link.
