About The Position

The Senior Software Developer is a hands-on technical contributor who designs, builds, deploys, and maintains full-stack applications using React on the front end and Node.js with JavaScript or TypeScript on the back end. The role delivers secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions on AWS, including REST/JSON API design and integration, often using Amazon API Gateway and AWS Lambda, while working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality user experiences and services. Senior Developers take ownership across the full software development lifecycle, contribute to architecture and technical decisions, mentor less-senior engineers, and improve delivery, reliability, and operational excellence. They apply automated testing, CI/CD, security practices such as authentication, authorization, and least-privilege access, and observability practices such as logging, metrics, and monitoring to keep systems production-ready and maintainable. This is a permanent, fully remote position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. The position is anticipated to close on November 17, 2026. The annual pay range is $91,700 to $137,500, with individual compensation based on qualifications, skills, experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other job-related factors. Additional earnings may be available through incentive programs such as annual bonuses or profit sharing.

  • Expertise in full-stack development with Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) and React.
  • Ability to design clean, maintainable, well-tested codebases, with familiarity in automated unit and integration testing and ownership of component-level test strategy.
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms, API design and integration, modular and layered architectures, and performance and scalability considerations.
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing and deployment, observability, logging, and monitoring.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP; AWS is preferred.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating applications in cloud environments, including networking, security and identity concepts, managed services and patterns, and basic cost optimization considerations.
  • Ability to work across backend services and frontend frameworks, or strong depth in one layer with working knowledge of the adjacent layer.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, quality, or learning.
  • Pragmatic understanding of AI tools, including their benefits, limitations, and responsible use in enterprise and client settings, and willingness to continue upskilling as tools and platforms evolve.
  • Ability to own complex or ambiguous features, communicate clearly, work across projects or domains as demand shifts, and balance delivery speed with code quality, stability, and maintainability.

  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with additional cloud platforms beyond the primary platform.
  • Basic familiarity with AI-enabled application patterns, such as integrating hosted AI services or APIs or using AI for data processing, search, or automation.
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as cloud or DevOps certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain production-grade full-stack software, including React user interfaces and Node.js services, aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, estimation, development, automated testing, CI/CD-driven deployment, and production support.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making, explaining rationale and trade-offs.
  • Build and maintain reliable, secure, and performant applications and services on AWS, including REST/JSON API integrations and secure access patterns.
  • Implement operability and observability practices, including logging, metrics, and monitoring or alerting, and use tools such as Amazon CloudWatch to troubleshoot across development, test, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps, and other engineers to deliver complete solutions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
  • Improve engineering practices, including automation, CI/CD, testing, and operational maturity.
  • Own complex or ambiguous features end to end, make technical decisions within scope, and guide others through ambiguity.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to team culture and knowledge sharing.
