Role Overview: Shape how millions of customer interactions are routed in real time by building and evolving a core microservice within the Genesys Cloud platform. This role directly impacts how organizations connect with their customers by ensuring conversations are intelligently matched with the right agents at global scale. As a senior engineer on the Assignment team, you will own critical components of a highly available, event driven system and influence architectural direction across the platform. You will partner with product, engineering, and operations leaders to deliver resilient, scalable solutions while expanding your impact through platform level initiatives, shared services, and mentorship. This role offers strong visibility into enterprise scale systems and provides a clear path to deeper technical leadership and architectural influence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience in Java or a similar language
  • Strong experience designing and building distributed systems or microservices architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross functional engineering environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building cloud native applications using platforms such as AWS
  • Familiarity with event driven systems and streaming technologies such as Kafka
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases and distributed data systems
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and service integration patterns
  • Exposure to AI assisted development tools such as Kiro, Cursor, or Amazon Q
  • Experience contributing to shared libraries or platform level engineering initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Own the end to end design, development, testing, and deployment of features within a high scale routing microservice
  • Drive improvements to system performance, scalability, and reliability across a globally distributed cloud platform
  • Resolve complex technical challenges by analyzing production issues and implementing durable, long term solutions
  • Influence architectural decisions by advocating for maintainability, observability, and automation across services
  • Review and elevate code quality across the team, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices and platform standards
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver cohesive platform capabilities and align on technical direction
  • Strengthen platform resilience by proactively identifying risks and improving system behavior under load
  • Participate in on call rotations to support service reliability and continuously improve incident response mechanisms
