About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Senior Software Developer (EDI) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a 100% U.S.-based remote position and a W-2, full-time role. Candidates located in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. U.S. citizenship is required, and the selected applicant must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and meet government investigation and clearance eligibility requirements. The role owns functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules to support accurate transaction processing and business operations. It interprets and troubleshoots healthcare EDI transactions, analyzes SNIP compliance and partner-specific validation rules, documents mappings and logical requirements, and works with business stakeholders to resolve issues and assess operational impact. The developer supports audits and compliance reviews, maintains data-quality guardrails, collaborates with EDI, DevSecOps, cloud, business, and integration teams, and investigates EDI, middleware, API, and stored-data discrepancies. The position requires deep EDI and healthcare experience, including Edifecs tools and X.12 transactions; familiarity with AWS cloud environments, SQL, integration flows, and Agile practices; and the ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline is requested, with equivalent practical experience considered. The listed salary range is $85,389–$116,975.
