About The Position

The Senior Software Developer & Team Lead is a dual-role position designed for an experienced engineer who is equally comfortable writing production-quality code and leading and developing a team of software developers. You will serve as both a hands-on technical contributor and a servant leader; setting technical direction, mentoring junior and mid-level developers, and leading daily standups for your team. This role sits at the intersection of software craftsmanship and people leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, including demonstrated leadership in a team environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop unit tests for code components and complete applications.
  • Experience working across a variety of software development projects and environments.
  • Deep expertise in at least one programming language with broad general programming knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare technology industry and its operational context.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a team or project leadership capacity.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum team structures.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, implement, test, and manage software development efforts independently and within a team environment.
  • Implement new or modified software products and business projects as directed.
  • Identify areas for modification in existing programs and discuss recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the leadership and product manager to ensure software projects meet technical and business requirements.
  • Write and implement efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Determine operational practicality of proposed solutions and development approaches.
  • Develop and uphold quality assurance procedures and engineering standards.
  • Deploy software tools, processes, and metrics as directed.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing solutions and systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO, fellow developers, and product managers on system improvements.
  • Assist in assembling teams with the right combination of skills to accomplish project goals.
  • Develop and communicate strategies by which team members can reach project goals.
  • Assign and manage tasks across team members, including work you personally own.
  • Determine project timelines and monitor progress to ensure work remains on track.
  • Communicate team progress and status to upper-level management on an ongoing basis.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers through coaching, feedback, and educational opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture where you lead by example in technical practice and professional conduct.
  • Seek guidance from leadership as necessary to resolve team dysfunction, insubordination, or interpersonal conflict.
  • Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to assess job satisfaction, performance, and career advancement.
  • Act as Scrum Master for the team, facilitating ceremonies and removing impediments.
  • Approve PTO requests and timecards for direct reports.
  • Coordinate completion of company-wide tasks and participate in relevant meetings such as compliance and R&D reporting.
  • Communicate company and office news (e.g., work-from-home days, events) to direct reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete performance evaluations for direct reports with supervision from the department Director.
  • Facilitate cross-team communication and ensure technical alignment across departments.
