Senior Software and Data Engineer
About The Position
As an Application Developer Sr I, you will design and build software and data solutions that enable medical insights using modern technologies. You will work within a high-performing Scrum team to deliver impactful solutions that improve pet health outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with data scientists and engineers while working with IDEXX’s core clinical data assets. The Clinical Intelligence Engine team develops scalable software and data solutions that power clinical insights and innovation in veterinary care. You will partner with cross-functional teammates to deliver high-quality applications and data pipelines that support critical business initiatives.
Requirements
- Proficiency in software design
- Experience with one or more major cloud providers (e.g., AWS)
- Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Java)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., AWS MySQL Aurora)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience with cloud object storage (e.g., S3)
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
- Experience with rules engines (e.g., Drools)
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Databricks
- Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD)
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage data pipelines and integrations
- Contribute to machine learning and rules-based classification applications
- Participate in technical strategy and business planning discussions
- Innovate across technology, team processes, and development practices
- Collaborate with Developers, QA Engineers, DevOps, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters
- Contribute to a Scrum-based Agile environment to deliver solutions
- Mentor junior development team members
