About The Position

This is a temporary full-time position for a 12-week assignment, requiring 40 hours per week. The role involves applying advanced social work practice knowledge and skills, responding to suspected abuse, neglect, or violence in accordance with ethical codes and state laws. The position requires expert-level critical thinking and in-depth psychosocial assessments, with the ability to apply complex concepts to various situations. If licensed, the individual may diagnose patients and provide specialized counseling and support. The Senior Social Worker will be a member of an interdisciplinary team, assisting patients, clients, residents, and their families with social, emotional, and economic concerns to promote optimal functioning. This includes utilizing age-related care protocols for physical and psychological needs across all age groups. Collaboration with clinical staff for fiscally sound and timely continued planning outcomes is expected. The role requires advanced knowledge of teamwork principles, understanding the impact of illness on patients and families, and demonstrating clinical experience in the psychosocial and economic management of illness-related problems, including brief therapy as appropriate. The position also requires the ability to work with the growth and development needs of patient populations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited curriculum required.
  • Must possess a license in good standing in state(s) of practice: In Minnesota, must have one of the following: Licensed Graduated Social Worker (LGSW) Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). In North Dakota, must have one of the following: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Responsibilities

  • Apply the knowledge and skills of advanced social work practice.
  • Respond to suspected abuse, neglect or violence in accordance with the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics policies and procedures alongside the appropriate state laws.
  • Perform in-depth psychosocial assessments.
  • Apply complex concepts to situations.
  • Diagnose patients/clients/residents (if carrying the correct licensure).
  • Provide specialized counseling and support.
  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team in providing assistance with social, emotional and economic concerns of the patients/clients/residents and families/caregivers.
  • Utilize appropriate age-related patient/client/resident care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient/client/resident.
  • Work closely with additional clinical staff to achieve fiscally sound and timely continued planning outcomes.
  • Understand the impact of illness on the patient/client/resident and families/caregivers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and clinical experience in the psychosocial and economic management of problems commonly occurring with an illness.
  • Provide brief therapy as appropriate.
  • Work with growth and development needs of patient/client/resident populations.
