Senior Site Reliability Engineer
About The Position
Windscribe is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help manage and improve their DNS infrastructure. This role involves Linux system administration, network configuration, troubleshooting, and automation using Python and Salt configuration management. The engineer will be responsible for resolving issues across various operating systems and networking environments, contributing to infrastructure projects, launching new software into production, participating in an on-call rotation for critical incident response, building documentation, and refining operational processes to be error-proof.
Requirements
- Proven track record of completing complex work independently
- Solid understanding of the Linux Operating System (Filesystem and permissions, Firewall (iptables) and networking setup, System management (systemd))
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience (Salt / Ansible /Terraform / Opentofu / Chef / Puppet)
- Develop automation using Python, Bash
- Experience with network troubleshooting is a must
- Proficiency with command line tools (dig, dog, delv, ping, nping, mtr)
- Experience with Packet Capture (tcpdump, wireshark, termshark)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (OSI model, TCP/IP, UDP/TCP, IP addresses and Subnetting, Routing, unicast and anycast, BGP)
- Deep understanding of the Domain Name System protocol (Record Types, Resolution paths and server types, DNSSEC extensions (record signing, client subnet))
Nice To Haves
- DNS experience (Worked with BIND / PowerDNS / Unbound or worked closely with orgs deeply in DNS administration and service, Cloudflare, ARN, RIPE, etc)
- Skill with some hardware (Juniper / JunOS / VyOS)
- Skill with VPN protocols (OpenVPN / Wireguard / StrongSwan)
- Passion for anti-censorship / VPN's / DNS
Responsibilities
- Linux system administration and troubleshooting

Benefits
- Salary: 140K - 180K CAD per annum
- REMOTE in Canada only but you MUST reside in the Eastern Time Zone
