About The Position

Workday is looking for a passionate and experienced Sr Site Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic Tenant Lifecycle Engineering (TLE) Public Cloud Operations team. We're a distributed team responsible for the health, performance, and reliability of the Workday application in the public cloud. We're passionate about automation, efficiency, and building a world-class cloud infrastructure. This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native).

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, GoLang, or Java.
  • 3+ years experience with orchestration and deployment tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
  • Experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • 3+ years experience implementing, designing, deploying: Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless (Lambda’s).
  • 3+ years experience with one or more: AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Strong background in Linux and Shell Scripting.
  • High degree of comfort in Object-Oriented and Functional Programming.

Nice To Haves

  • An active TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred.
  • May be required to be on site at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area.
  • Preferred DoD 8570/8140 compliant with at least IAT Level II certification, including a current Computing Environment (CE) credential and one approved specialty certification (e.g., CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, CASP+).
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with CI tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo, or Artifactory.
  • Experience with SQL and MySQL databases.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Loves solving the complexities of orchestrating deployments.
  • Dislikes doing things twice and automates every step of the way.
  • Strives to make things self-healing, elastic, automatic, repeatable, and well-tested.
  • Is passionate about technology and enjoys exploring new tools and techniques to improve automation.

Responsibilities

  • Be a key contributor in building a user-friendly, scalable, and reliable tools framework.
  • Automate cluster buildouts, validation, patch deployment, and other operational tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with other Environments teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Mentor and guide fellow team members, sharing your expertise and knowledge.
  • Design and analyze large-scale distributed systems.
  • Implement, design, and deploy solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and Serverless technologies.
  • Apply your expertise in AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
