About The Position

HDR is seeking a Senior Site Civil BIM Designer to join its Building Engineering Services team in Mobile. The role supports site civil design and production of construction documents for Federal, Power, Architectural, Water/Wastewater, and Industrial clients. The designer works daily with project managers, project engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams, using Civil 3D and other current 3D software to develop models, drawings, layouts, and diagrams within project scope, schedule, and budget. The position includes coordinating designs with other discipline models through design reviews and 3D coordination, and contributing to HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Requirements

• Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience.
• At least 5 years of related industry experience.
• Advanced skillset in 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
• Advanced skillset with a 3D coordination tool.
• Competency with Microsoft Office products and communication tools.
• Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts.
• Knowledge of industry standards and practices, discipline codes, and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of site civil design concepts, industry standards, and practices.
• Autodesk Civil 3D certification.
• Experience with Navisworks, MicroStation, and OpenRoads; preference will be given to local candidates.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and a multidisciplinary design team on a daily basis.
• Support the design and production of site civil construction documents for Federal, Power, Architectural, Water/Wastewater, and Industrial clients.
• Model and draft site civil design improvements in Civil 3D, including site survey, site layout, grading, drainage, storm water management systems, roadway, erosion and sediment control, landscaping, and site utilities.
• Model gravity and pressure pipe networks.
• Support development of construction drawings in Civil 3D and ensure files and plans adhere to HDR and/or client CAD standards.
• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and diagrams of designs within project scope, schedule, and budget using current 3D software.
• Coordinate designs with other discipline models through design reviews and the 3D coordination process.
• Maintain an active-participant attitude and commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture.
• Perform other duties as needed.
