Sr Simulation Engineer - AD/ADAS

Woven•Ann Arbor, MI

About The Position

Woven by Toyota is seeking a Senior Simulation Engineer for its Automated Driving & ADAS organization. The team develops scalable, data-driven autonomous and assisted driving software and builds developer workflows that use real-world data and in-house and third-party simulation technologies. These technologies underpin virtual verification and validation, autonomy and ADAS stack development, regression testing, and model training. The Simulation Core team member will develop and integrate simulation engines, frameworks, and client APIs, primarily using Rust or C++ and Python. The role emphasizes portable, modular, reusable software that serves vehicle technology development and testing across Toyota programs. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams, help guide the team roadmap, champion sound engineering practices, and mentor developers while building critical AD/ADAS simulator tools.

  • Strong programming skills in Rust or C++.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • A proven track record of crafting well-designed, impactful solutions within allotted time and resource constraints.
  • Ability to think, design, and code from both the user's and simulator developer's perspectives.
  • Self-driven enthusiasm for solving complex problems and learning new techniques and technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building real-time systems, including simulations for driver assistance and hardware-in-the-loop scenarios.
  • Knowledge of one or more cloud compute platforms, such as AWS.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and container management systems such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with build systems, continuous integration, and/or continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Experience in the automotive and/or self-driving autonomy domain.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and extend core simulation technologies, such as the world engine, interfaces, scheduler, and agent frameworks.
  • Integrate core simulation technologies into solutions and workflows while ensuring end-user requirements are met.
  • Analyze simulation results to identify gaps between simulated and real-world performance.
  • Prioritize improvements to core simulation and integration software.
  • Partner with ADAS autonomy, integration, and release teams to improve ADAS software validation.
  • Help set the team roadmap to support the evolving landscape of ADAS customers and data sources.
  • Demonstrate good design practices and align with stakeholders before, during, and after implementation.
  • Propose and advocate for modern technologies and methodologies that can drive innovation and performance.

Benefits
