About The Position

As a Senior Silviculture Manager, you don't just manage forests - you optimize them through innovation and precision. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing both annual and long-term silviculture plans that align with our strategic Market Driven Precision Forestry (MDPF) and sustainability goals. You will optimize silviculture regimes to maximize productivity, efficiency, and financial returns across your designated area. By overseeing everything from site preparation to timber stand improvements and managing a complex network of contractor relationships, you serve as a driving force in the growth and health of our forest assets. We are seeking an experienced professional with a deep commitment to operational excellence and sustainable practices. In this role, you will be: Strategic Silviculturist: You will advance market-driven precision forestry principles through effective investment and prudent capital allocation that meets established ROI criteria. Operational Architect: You will plan and implement site-specific prescriptions and treatments, optimizing resource allocation to reduce costs and maximize productivity. Financial Steward: You will develop and manage silviculture budgets and forecasts, monitoring costs against projections to drive maximum financial performance from our assets. Contractor Management Lead: You will oversee the contract process, assessing contractor capabilities, mitigating capacity risks, and building strong, compliant relationships. Collaborative Professional: You will foster a culture of collaboration while maintaining strong partnerships with research cooperatives, adjacent landowners, and public agencies. Technology Advocate: You will leverage innovative tools and GIS updates to monitor forest health and measure productivity on every acre.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in land management, with a strong emphasis on silviculture and forest operations administration.
  • A thorough understanding of regeneration silviculture, timber stand improvement, forest inventory, GIS applications, and sustainable forestry practices.
  • Proven ability to motivate others, excellent communication, and strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Direct experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Hiking across varied terrain (uneven ground, slopes, wetlands, and dense vegetation), carrying equipment and supplies, and performing strenuous tasks like inventory measurements and sale setup.
  • Maintaining stability on uneven surfaces, navigating obstacles, and working in challenging positions, often outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Operating machinery, power tools, and motor vehicles.
  • Must be flexible to travel within the district.
  • Applicants for this position will be subject to pre-employment drug testing which includes testing for non-psychoactive cannabis metabolites. Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive programs for site preparation, planting, weed control, and fertilization that align with company financial objectives.
  • Drive operational excellence through process optimization and operational research to enhance silvicultural practices.
  • Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual variances against budgets and forecasts, reporting findings as required by the District Manager.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage all phases of the contract process to ensure adherence to legal and company standards.
