We are seeking a Senior Security Operations Analyst to provide on-demand Cybersecurity and IT services to support the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) mission at the NIGC Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Requirements

  • Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant certifications (Security+, CASP+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, SC-100/200, AZ-500, etc.).
  • A minimum 6 years of continuous experience in security operations or security analysis.
  • Experience performing security monitoring, log analysis, threat detection, continuous monitoring, and proactive threat hunting.
  • Hands-on experience with security analysis tools and reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting incident response activities and incident handling procedures.
  • Ability to develop reporting checklists, detection policies, and automation improvements.
  • Ability to analyze and report on security posture and metrics.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must meet Public Trust clearance and federal compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, detects, and responds to cybersecurity threats to protect the National Indian Gaming Commission’s systems, networks, and sensitive data.
  • Analyzes security events and manages incident response.
  • Helps implement security controls to ensure compliance and operational resilience.
  • Provides technical expertise to strengthen the agency’s overall cybersecurity posture and support secure IT operations.
  • Performs security analysis activities according to established standards.
  • Monitors systems for threats, analyzes logs, and identifies suspicious activity.
  • Develops and executes daily security analysis and reporting checklists.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of analysis processes and recommends improvements.
  • Supports continuous monitoring and proactive threat hunting.
  • Develops detection and response policies to enhance automation and alerting.
  • Develops incident handling procedures.
  • Executes incident response activities per established plans.
  • Ensures adequate data collection for investigations and situational awareness.
  • Collects metrics and generates threat and security posture reports.
