Senior SDET, QA Engineer

Angel•Provo, UT
•$99,000 - $115,000•Remote

About The Position

Angel Studios is hiring a Senior SDET to champion quality for its theatrical ticketing experience and the reporting used by marketers. The role owns end-to-end quality for fans browsing showtimes, selecting seats, checking out, and receiving confirmations across web, iOS, and Android. It also supports a fast-growing team in building, testing, and shipping with confidence. The Senior SDET will create trusted web and mobile test automation, strengthen test environments, and investigate issues across applications, federated graphs, background jobs, and queues. The role partners with customer support to reproduce and route reported problems, uses Datadog to monitor and investigate system health, and reduces manual verification and release work. It also validates payments, feature-flagged experiences, experiments, analytics, localization, marketing campaigns, promo codes, tracking, attribution, and related data. The person in this role will use AI tools in testing and collaborate with platform, DevOps, mobile, marketing, customer support, and other teams. This is a regular full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. The team is remote, with remote members expected to have a private, quiet workspace; the main office is air-conditioned, open, shared, and may be fast-paced and occasionally noisy. Travel includes 2–4 onsite events in Utah each year. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in test automation or SDET roles.
  • Web end-to-end automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar tools using TypeScript or JavaScript.
  • End-to-end testing experience for mobile apps on iOS and Android.
  • Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD as release gates.
  • Experience setting up end-to-end test data and environments, including using APIs to create test state.
  • Experience testing flows that depend on third-party services or asynchronous processing, such as payments, queues, and background jobs.
  • Advanced experience with Datadog or a comparable observability platform, including dashboards, monitors, logs, APM traces, and RUM.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools in an engineering workflow.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-driven mobile testing platforms, especially Revyl.
  • Experience testing React Native apps and distributing test builds through TestFlight and Play Console.
  • GraphQL experience, including federated graphs.
  • E-commerce, ticketing, or payments testing experience, including Stripe or PayPal test modes.
  • Experience with feature flags and experimentation platforms such as GrowthBook, and analytics validation with Segment.
  • Load-testing experience with k6, Artillery, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Docker, CI tooling, and preview or ephemeral environments.
  • Deep Datadog experience specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end quality for theatrical ticketing flows, including showtime browsing, seat selection, checkout, and confirmation on web, iOS, and Android.
  • Build web end-to-end browser tests that run on every pull request and gate releases.
  • Automate theatrical ticketing journeys in the Angel app using the mobile team's Revyl-based testing approach.
  • Partner with DevOps and other teams to create stable, production-like end-to-end test environments with seeded test data, payment-provider test modes, and stubs for external services.
  • Trace broken flows through the app, federated graph, background jobs, and queues to identify the team responsible for fixes.
  • Respond to customer support questions and bug reports, reproduce fan issues, route them to the appropriate team, and turn recurring problems into test coverage.
  • Build Datadog dashboards and monitors for the ticketing funnel; use RUM, logs, and traces to identify regressions and investigate production issues.
  • Automate or simplify manual verification and release processes for theatrical launches.
  • Validate payments, feature-flagged experiences and experiments, analytics events, and localization.
  • Partner with marketing to validate campaigns, promo codes, tracking, attribution, and the accuracy of reported data.
  • Use AI tools to write and maintain tests, explore flows, and triage failures, and share effective practices across the organization.
  • Coordinate across Theatrical, platform, DevOps, mobile, and other graph-owning teams on shared environments, test data, and release coordination.
  • Communicate test strategies and tradeoffs and collaborate with engineering, product, design, marketing, and customer support.
