About The Position

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is a division within RBC’s Technology and Operations, seeking a talented, creative, and results-driven professional to deliver high-performing applications. GFT collaborates with various partners across the company, including Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management, to provide innovative IT solutions. The team also develops digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration, emphasizing innovation and bold ideas. Specifically, the Compliance IT team supports business processes and applications for Regulatory Compliance and Trade Surveillance, utilizing both in-house and vendor-built tools.

Requirements

  • Experience in project delivery with agile teams
  • Experience with agile practices including scrum/Kanban, agile ceremonies (standups, backlog refinement, team demos)
  • Experience working with vendors that provide resources using various models (staff augmentation, fixed price contracts)
  • Experience delivering small to medium complex projects with agile teams
  • Clear understanding of the various activities within a delivery project
  • Experience scheduling activities across all delivery teams to deliver a common capability
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally to articulate, measure and solve issues

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile practices
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools – JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with Planview and/or RBC MIS (Management Information System)
  • Basic financial experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Scrum Master
  • 3+ years of experience in software development and/or project management and/or business (system) analysis or other relevant professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide delivery leadership for medium to large projects/initiatives
  • Facilitate low complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning
  • Accountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations
  • Track and manage risks to delivery
  • Tracking and reporting financials for the Team
  • Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team
  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies and simple team problem-solving, considering options and selecting solutions; escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary
  • Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g. tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment
  • Manage team performance to promote joint accountability for results and solve productivity issues
  • Facilitating and engaging in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms
  • Navigating and identifying shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives
