About The Position

The Senior Scientist will support the development of Anduril’s proprietary metal-powder fuel formulation through chemical and materials research and development at the West Lafayette, Indiana office. The role involves hands-on research and development as well as project management, with a focus on translating laboratory development into real-world capabilities. The scientist works under the guidance of a senior principal scientist and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in chemical engineering, materials science, metallurgical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
• Fundamental knowledge of material and chemical sciences.
• Experience in team-oriented project execution.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Eligible to work on-site in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with various materials types and processing techniques, including metals, ceramics, polymers, and nanomaterials.
• Experience with air-sensitive chemistries, materials, and techniques.
• Experience with thin films and surface chemistry.
• Experience with team project leadership and management.
• Well-developed soft skills for technical project collaboration.
• Experience with materials characterization techniques and interpretation, such as ICP, gravimetric analysis, microscopy, DSC, and spectrometry.
• Experience with propellant or energetic materials.
• Experience in the aerospace and defense industries.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental research under the guidance of a senior principal scientist.
• Collaborate with a multi-specialized team.
• Analyze data, plan experiments, and make brief technical presentations.
• Support multi-threaded project management.
