About The Position

The Senior Scientist, Multimodal Research Imaging will lead the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) Research Imaging Core, providing scientific and operational leadership for a state-of-the-art imaging program that supports cutting-edge translational research. The Core currently manages PET/CT and MRI imaging studies across a broad range of research areas, including aging, infectious diseases, neuroscience, and other biomedical disciplines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to expand the Core's imaging capabilities, develop and implement innovative methodologies, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and advance its mission of accelerating scientific discovery through advanced imaging technologies.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • At least two years of experience in preclinical or laboratory animal imaging.
  • Experience with PET/CT and MRI imaging.
  • Experience developing innovative imaging methodologies.
  • Experience managing shared research core facilities.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Licensure or professional certification, as applicable to the candidate's field.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of experience leading research imaging programs.
  • Five or more years of experience conducting nonhuman primate research.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the research imaging core including PET/CT and MRI capabilities.
  • Support future growth of the core to provide radiological and diagnostic imaging services such as nuclear medicine, MRI, radiology, CT, and ultrasound to support research and colony health needs.
  • Oversee program compliance with all regulatory standards, including State Radiation Licensing.
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify imaging targets, ensure appropriate image capture, image analysis and data processing.
  • Work with the SNPRC teams to ensure full veterinary, technical, and scheduling support for the imaging processes.
  • Develop new protocols for expanding PET isotope capabilities.
  • Supervise and develop an imaging team to support research capabilities and data delivery.
  • Support the writing of core components as required for the SNPRC base grants (P51), and the annual progress report for the component.
