About The Position

The Lopez laboratory studies viruses and their interaction with their host. Our goal is to understand how the different components of a virus population affect the infected organism and how this interaction influences the virus evolution and its maintenance in nature. Our multidisciplinary approach to gather an inclusive mechanistic understanding of the processes that result from the interaction of viruses and the infected organism will expose you to a diverse array of techniques and tools, as well as to rich intellectual diversity. The ideal candidate is someone that embraces mentoring and loves to do science at the bench. The job involves the design and establishment of research protocols and assisting in developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis and documentation of experiment results.

Requirements

  • Phd Or Terminal Degree Or Combination Of Education And Experience May Substitute For Minimum Education.
  • Postdoctoral (3 Years)

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects.
  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  • May submit grant proposals in rare circumstances with the approval of the PI, Department Head and Dean.
  • Prepares and submits papers on research.
  • Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
