Senior scientific software business analyst
About The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a scientific software business analyst for R&D Applications. You will work with the scientific computing team in supporting our efforts in translational biology, genetics, and data analysis. This role will be a hands-on resource reporting to the director of scientific computing. The analyst will work closely with the various research business functions (Early research, Translational Sciences, Biostatistics, sequencing core) to deliver technology solutions to meet our critical business needs. This important role requires business analyst and project management skills as well as hands-on technical knowledge for various genomics/genetics research applications.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience analyzing business requirements and supporting information systems projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of Genetics and Scientific data analysis is preferred
- Knowledge of agile software development lifecycle
- Experience developing and delivering technical solutions across various business groups
- Experience in documenting detailed requirements, user stories, business processes and technical specifications for both custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and analysis, small and large group facilitation, and presentation skills
- Experience with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models and managed services
- Understanding of Relational Databases, Semantic Databases, Data Warehouses, Entity Relationship Diagrams, and basic SQL queries preferred.
- Demonstrated ability/experience in thinking at a high-level but have the ability to get into details
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree preferred
- Biotech/Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead business stakeholders thru the business analysis lifecycle
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, Operations Teams, Developers, Technology Partners, and Quality Assurance on scope, solutions, constraints, and risks
- Application configuration support for R&D IS applications
- Analyze/document detailed functional requirements and business rules (develop use cases)
- Analyze/document current and future business process models – and be able to identify areas of potential improvement
- Understand how to architect scientific data.
- Use your knowledge of solutions to make and support recommendations to business partners, consistent with IT governance policies
- Facilitate and support system and user acceptance testing
- Perform knowledge transfer and provide ongoing leadership, to support project go-live and beyond, operations and support activities?
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for multiple systems
- Manage multiple technology partners and vendors
- Participate or lead roadmap discussions and vendor assessments
- Keep management apprised of developments through clear and timely communication
