About The Position

The Senior SCADA Innovation & Design Manager will provide strategic leadership and technical governance for SOLV Energy's SCADA platform, overseeing innovation (R&D), system design standards, and regulatory compliance to ensure scalable, secure, and industry-leading solutions across all SOLV Energy projects. This role is responsible for setting the long-term technical vision of the SCADA platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with SOLV’s business objectives across EPC, O&M, and third-party delivery. Additionally, this role will oversee the project execution for the SCADA Design team and leverage that team as an avenue for incorporating new initiatives. This position leads the Innovation and Design engineering teams, guiding the development, standardization, and adoption of advanced SCADA architectures, tools, and workflows. This individual serves as the senior technical authority for platform evolution, design consistency, and compliance alignment, balancing innovation with operational reliability and regulatory requirements. Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Delivery, OTS, Cybersecurity, Operations, and external stakeholders, this role reduces technical risk, improves execution quality and efficiency, and ensures SOLV’s SCADA capabilities remain competitive and future-ready. This role is based full-time in our office in Bend, OR. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

  • College degree in a technical discipline preferred; relevant work experience may substitute.
  • 8 years of total engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience working for a SCADA integrator or equivalent
  • Verifiable experience in a construction environment as a system integrator or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with control systems, data collection, software applications, networking, telecommunications, and web-based applications.
  • Proficiency with electrical schematics and process, instrumentation, and control diagrams.
  • Experience drafting electrical or telecom designs in AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional technical team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio).
  • Experience with task management tools (MS Teams, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira, or similar).
  • Strong process management skills.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and charismatic.
  • Ability to clearly articulate vision and translate strategy into actionable plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing engineering teams of three or more direct reports is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams and support talent development.
  • Develop and maintain process workflows, clearly defining individual tasks and collaboration points.
  • Provide senior technical governance for SCADA architecture, hardware, software, and network design standards.
  • Ensure compliance with UL, NEC, NERC-CIP, IEEE, utility, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Serve as senior technical escalation point for complex SCADA challenges.
  • Support the OTS Preconstruction team by providing technical and budgetary input during scope of work reviews.
  • Support Business Development with technical presentations to prospective customers.
  • Participate in visits and quality inspections of vendor and subcontractor facilities.
  • Feb 2026 Innovation Lead and execute the SCADA innovation and R&D roadmap, including advanced controls, testing environments (HIL/CHIL), and evaluation of emerging technologies.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with SOLV Energy business partners and equipment OEMs to keep SCADA designs current with industry changes.
  • Maintain industry awareness of the competitive landscape to inform platform strategy and positioning.
  • Identify industry trends, evaluate and provide recommendations for roadmap updates accordingly.
  • Lead the design and development of new control and monitoring system platforms for utility scale energy projects.
  • Organize, consolidate, and track progress on improvement objectives.
  • Drive the development and refining of new functions within the SCADA team’s codebase to enable plant functions, drive intuitive configurability, and enhance system integration between PV, BESS, MPC and substation operations.
  • Guide engineering teams on development efforts and platform innovations, including system architecture, power plant control, HMI interfaces, and integration of third-party data.
  • Manage the SCADA Design project portfolio by assigning engineers, conducting regular task check-ins, and reporting to Project Managers and Engineering Managers.
  • Own and maintain hardware design and drafting standards for the SCADA platform on EPC projects.
  • Develop and uphold design and testing standards focused on quality, reliability, and supportability.
  • Communicate regularly with other SOLV business units and subcontractors to ensure SCADA designs meet project requirements and construction constraints.
  • Interface directly with clients, including hosting in-person Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Proactively review design guidelines, installation manuals, and specifications to ensure compatibility between SOLV SCADA designs and new third-party equipment.
