About The Position

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Senior SAP Functional Analyst in Eagan, MN. This role serves as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their SAP ECC 6.0 EHP7 environment. It is a high-impact, end-to-end role that acts as the bridge between Finance business partners and technical teams, including Basis and ABAP. The Senior SAP Functional Analyst will own the health, configuration, and ongoing evolution of a Financial (FI)-centric SAP landscape, leading solution design and functional configuration across FI-GL, AP, AR, Treasury, and FS-CD. Responsibilities include overseeing daily production support, managing third-party integrations (Workday, Kyriba, Concur, Blackline, Zycus, and TM1), and collaborating on custom enhancements and Fiori applications. This role also includes ownership of release, transport, testing, and change management processes, ensuring a stable, scalable, and well-governed SAP environment.

Requirements

5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
Cloud Service Provider Certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.) – required within 1 year of employment
Essential Candidate Qualities: Creative thinking, strong communication skills, creativity, curiosity, self-motivated, time management skills
Strong configuration and administration experience with: Core Module Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Treasury.
Industry Specifics: Strong experience with FS-CD (Financial Services Cash Ledger) is highly preferred.
Integration Expertise: Proven track record of managing complex interfaces between SAP and external systems (SaaS and On-Prem). Specific experience with Workday integration is a significant plus.
Knowledge, experience, and familiarity with: Technical Proficiency: Experience with SAP Fiori (designing and supporting custom apps).
Advanced knowledge of IDocs, File-based transfers, and EDI.
Ability to perform ABAP debugging to identify root causes of issues.
Familiarity with MoveIT (File Transfer) and Stonebranch (Job Scheduling) or similar tools.
Experience with automated and manual testing coordination and using change management tools to move transports through the landscape.
High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
SAP Certifications in FI/CO are a plus.
Experience with the following ecosystems: Spend/Procurement: Zycus, Beeline, VNDLY, Levelpath. Financial Operations: Blackline (Reconciliation), Kyriba (Treasury), Concur (Expense). Reporting/Planning: TM1, Simplepay, Calidus.
Environment: SAP ECC 6.0 EHP7 HANA DB on HEC.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
A self-starter comfortable being the "sole expert" and taking full ownership of the functional domain.
A "detective" mindset for troubleshooting data discrepancies across multiple integrated systems.
Comfortable running meetings, driving deadlines, and managing expectations at the leadership level.

Responsibilities

Analyze, design, configure, debug, maintain new or existing SAP systems.
Work collaboratively on a daily scrum team with a scrum master, product owner, analysts, developers, and testers to iteratively deliver functional software to production.
Provide leadership for projects and products to ensure usability, usefulness, feasibility, and cost effectiveness.
Work with analysts and customers to establish product or project requirements.
Contribute innovative solutions while utilizing best practices, design standards, and governance.
Perform system administration activities including data loading, data migration/conversion, data clean-up tasks, system integration monitoring, etc.
Research technology trends and contribute to designs and platform decisions.
Mentor, lead, train other team members.
