About The Position

Position Overview Reporting to the Assistant Director of Sales, the Senior Group Sales Manager oversees group sales for The Royal Sonesta Washington, DC Capitol Hill and manages an assigned region. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients while driving group business through lead generation, account management, and strategic sales efforts. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional with strong communication skills, a proven track record in hotel sales, and the ability to build strategic relationships. Responsibilities

  • Promote the Sonesta brand to group and meeting decision makers
  • Utilize sales systems (Cvent, MeetingBroker, Delphi.fdc) for RFP management, tracking, and reporting
  • Develop and actively solicit group business within assigned territory
  • Identify, qualify, and follow up on leads to maximize revenue opportunities
  • Lead site visits, conduct outside sales calls, and attend industry events
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and maintain accurate records
  • Maintain a comprehensive account database
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless execution of booked business
  • Participate in meetings, training, and required sales activities
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and deadlines
  • Analyze market conditions, competition, and account performance to inform strategy
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans, including new business and partnerships
  • Plan and participate in sales initiatives such as blitzes and targeted outreach
  • Maintain strong knowledge of industry trends and booking processes
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Achieve annual revenue goals and drive year-over-year growth in room nights, ADR, Banquets and total revenue
  • Partner with Revenue Management to evaluate and optimize group opportunities
  • Manage a portfolio of key accounts and develop new business aligned with hotel goals
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
  • Understand client needs and tailor solutions to deliver value propositions
  • Represent Sonesta at industry events and within professional associations
  • Own individual performance against revenue and activity goals
  • Manage time and priorities effectively
  • Utilize CRM tools to track activity, pipeline, and follow-up
  • Ensure strong return on investment from sales activities and events
  • Act as the voice of the customer, sharing insights with leadership
  • Collaborate across departments to support business objectives
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions
