About The Position

The successful Senior Sales and Proposal Engineer will be responsible for marketing and selling all of the company’s steelmaking and casting equipment products in the NAFTA market, provide aftermarket support in the form of service and revamp proposals, and to represent the company’s interests in general. We offer company events, activities, and opportunities to participate in charitable initiatives that benefit the communities where we are located. www.sms-group.us  [http://www.sms-group.us/] What you'll do In conjunction with the Sales Managers, Engineering Department and Automation Department, determines which references will be used for equipment and for cost.  Management of proposal writing and editing  Manages sales calls and attends sales functions, as required  Management of layout work for proposal preparation  Management of proposal, metallurgical and process calculations  Project coordination with team members in the proposal stage  Coordination of engineering work for proposal preparation.  Prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed project.  Technical presentation of proposals to prospective customers  Technical presentation of SMS group to prospective customers  Contacts and coordination with main mechanical vendors for proposal purposes  Inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals  Developing and executing marketing strategy for NAFTA region customers, including customer communications and visits  Identifying potential projects (new equipment and aftermarket), selecting appropriate technologies, and developing technical and commercial specifications  Project management of the company’s NAFTA contracts including customer and supplier liaison  Customer support / liaison of the company’s domestic references  Approximately 15-20% travel required for customer and supplier visits or internal company meetings

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical degree required
  • Minimum 10 years experience working with industrial steelmaking and/or continuous casting technology, in solidification, heat transfer, thermodynamics, heat processing / melting applications. Steelmaking and/or continuous casting process engineering experience is required
  • Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and work well in a diverse team environment
  • Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Combustion and process design experience and competence a plus
