About The Position

SMS group Inc. seeks Senior Sales and Proposal Engineer-Electrical and Automation to be responsible for leading the entire cycle of proposal development and sales activities for engineering solutions. This includes in-depth analysis of customer technical requirements from RFQs and drawings, strategically collaborating with engineering teams to develop innovative solutions utilizing SMS technologies; cost estimation, coordinating with suppliers for quotations, and preparing technical proposals; managing risk assessments, determine sales prices using corporate tools, and ensure continuous communication of proposal status within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Additionally, this role will conduct meetings with customers to present technical solutions, negotiate terms and conditions, process purchase orders, and facilitate project handover to the internal engineering team. The Senior Sales and Proposal Engineer - Electrical and Automation utilizes expertise in electrical and automation engineering principles, PLC systems, drives and motors, computer networking, steelmaking processes (EAF, Casters, Rolling Mills, Process Lines), interpretation of technical drawings, and customer relationship management, to identify market opportunities, develop proposals and actively participate in sales conferences. Specific duties include the following: Develop proposals and technical specifications for technological solutions in the metal and aluminum industry. Analysis of electrical and automation schematics and diagrams to define the solution and scope of the project. Conduct technical visits to clients to discuss solutions and analyze opportunities. Maintain proposal files including related calculations, communications, and meeting reports. Inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals. Prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed project with estimator. Make sales calls and attends sales functions. Technical presentation of proposals to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, or another directly related engineering field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience working in an electrical and automation engineering role within the metals industry.
  • Experience with Electrical and automated control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Operator Interfaces, Drives and Motors, and Computer Networking.
  • Experience with Steel Making processes, including EAF, Casters, Rolling Mills, and Process Lines.
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical, mechanical and hydraulic technical drawings.
  • Experience developing engineering proposals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Sales skills, including customer relations, public speaking and conflict resolution.
