About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking a driven and motivated Senior Sales Account Manager to join their team. This role involves building relationships with customers, collaborating with internal teams, and driving business results in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Sales Account Manager will handle larger, more strategic accounts, ensuring their growth and fostering long-term partnerships with Smithfield Foods. The position offers support from a Sales Director, Regional Sales Manager, or National Accounts Manager and may involve mentoring junior staff or leading a small team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or related field and 5+ years’ relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
  • Work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of the food business industry or retail channels.
  • Experience of customer-focused and fact-based selling, including IRI, Nielsen and Perishable Group data.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, and adaptability.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Introducing and placing new products with customers.
  • Executing organizational initiatives.
  • Driving sales on key items with strategic customers for long-term growth.
  • Working directly with customers and cross-functionally with teams from Business Management to Plant Operations.
  • Handling larger, more strategic or high-value accounts.
  • Ensuring accounts grow, expand, and become long-term strategic partners of Smithfield Foods.
  • Establishing and maintaining customer relationships through daily corporate to corporate contact to communicate pricing, product availability, and order management.
  • Mentoring junior staff or leading a small team.
  • Achieving budgeted sales of consumer goods to key customers.
  • Developing and achieving maximum sales volume consistent with sales projections for accounts served.
  • Maintaining business with existing accounts for continued growth.
  • Driving the discovery and use of consumer and customer insights to enhance sales performance with customers.
  • Implementing and executing Smithfield sales plans to promote product lines.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of Smithfield’s product management, marketing, and R&D efforts to increase sales and satisfy customer demands for new items.
  • Cultivating business relations with personnel at various levels to communicate product availability, logistics information, product specifications, and pricing.
  • Ensuring prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems, potentially requiring communication with corporate headquarters.
  • Driving a positive employee experience through leadership, employee development, and coaching.
