About The Position

The Senior Safety SME will be responsible to advance the “state of the art” development for all safety development events. This position requires some travel to Chelsea Proving Grounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or other technical degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience applying specialty expertise and demonstrated competence in the ability to direct, guide, lead and mentor significant research or technical programs.
  • Complete understanding of regulatory compliance procedures as well as current and changes to third party regulations as it is evolving. Establish a systematical process to understand previous, current, and possible future requirements.
  • Demonstrated depth of passive safety competency width as indicated in the description of capabilities and expertise above.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • An ability to transmit an understanding of the specialty to Performance Engineers, CAE engineering audience as well as management.
  • Meets Stellantis requirements qualifying the candidate for a Safety SMEs classification.

  • Ability to apply Artificial Intelligence deep-learning techniques by using long-time cumulated Test and CAE data mining for future Vehicle Crashworthiness Structure Design Development as well as for safety predictability enhancement
  • Participation or leadership in technical societies or Interactions with third party agencies

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with various industry /academic experts and suppliers to interpret regulations, establish guidelines, benchmark, identify and develop enablers.
  • Streamline internal assessment / development processes, lead regulatory and third-party testing with in-house and outside test labs.
  • Represent Stellantis for all vehicle safety related strategy development activities with various working groups and industry forums such as SAE, USCAR and software user conferences.
  • Establish best practices and author / maintain globally harmonized procedure documents.
  • Support root cause and resolution of issues found on physical properties during critical product development.
  • Train and educate safety performance engineers in understanding and implementing the latest associated hardware or software technologies.
  • Provide both formal and informal training to safety performance, virtual engineering and product development engineers.
