About The Position

The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs across multiple states for projects and service groups within the Deep Foundations division. This role involves leading a team of safety professionals, overseeing compliance, conducting audits, and ensuring a safe work environment. The Senior Safety Manager will collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and company leadership to promote a strong safety culture that aligns with regulatory standards and corporate objectives. A strong background in construction safety, particularly in deep foundations, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment operations, is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in a safety and health-related discipline and seven or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on civil construction and experience in multiple states.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with a commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and propose actionable solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage team members and project stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects across multiple locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of safety managers, coordinators, and consultants spanning multiple regions.
  • Establish goals and objectives for the safety team, monitor performance, and conduct regular feedback sessions.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior management, advising on best practices and emerging trends in construction safety.
  • Design and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs that align with OSHA, state regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies for all projects.
  • Oversee the preparation of site-specific safety plans and ensure they are tailored to the unique risks of each project.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and DOT, across all project locations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections across sites to identify and resolve non-compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies and serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and inspections.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulations, maintain certifications, and seek continuous avenues for department growth and improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and analyze safety data and metrics, using insights to reduce incidents and improve overall safety performance.
  • Develop and present safety reports to senior leadership, covering incident trends, audit results, and improvement plans.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, policies, and emergency response.
  • Promote safety awareness through regular communication, updates, and engagement activities.
  • Serve as a safety liaison with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment on safety goals.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Create and deliver safety training to employees within service groups, both field and office personnel.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to Safety Manager(s), Safety Specialist(s), and Safety Consultants supporting assigned service groups.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, develops, and reviews direct reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Sets clear expectations, provides timely feedback, and addresses performance or conduct concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensures new hires are properly onboarded and trained, and supports cross-training to promote continued employee development.
  • Promotes compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies within assigned areas of responsibility.
