Requirements

Broad knowledge of MIL-STD-882 (series); during design, development, use, and maintenance of safety-critical hardware and software systems in complex aerospace and/or weapons systems.
Extensive experience in systems safety, with a proven track record of successfully mitigating hazards in complex systems.
Familiarity with DoD/aerospace safety requirements & policy to include AR385-17.
Understanding of design reviews process and design gates for large Department of Defense (DOD) procurement programs.
Understanding of risk and hazard assessment, mitigations and acceptance.
Must have a SECRET level clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

Implementing system safety processes and methodologies IAW Government and Industry Standards.
Creating briefings in PowerPoint and briefing to a technical audience.
Analyzing, researching, assessing, and organizing technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations.
Organizing, scheduling, and facilitating technical meetings and working groups.
Developing technical solutions to complex problems.
Evaluating project level safety programs to ensure compliance with DoD and Agency level safety guidance.
Providing feedback on design safety of the products delivered to the end user.
