About The Position

The Senior Safety and Risk Management Consultant (Consultant) of TRISTAR’s Risk Control Division, Aspen Risk Management Group (Aspen), provides safety, risk, and loss control consultation services to clients of varying sizes and complexities. The Senior Consultant integrates staff mentoring, onboarding and training, advanced expertise, strategic client management, safety program development, regulatory expertise, and other skill sets into their role. The Consultant is responsible for independently delivering expert guidance and innovative risk management and safety practices solutions. This role focuses on assessing client needs, developing tailored safety and risk prevention programs, and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies across various industries. The Consultant will collaborate closely with clients to enhance their safety culture, ensure compliance with regulations, and reduce workplace hazards. By leveraging industry knowledge and analytical skills, the Consultant aims to provide actionable insights that drive improvements in safety performance and operational efficiency. This position requires strong communication and leadership skills, building relationships with stakeholders, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients and team members that aligns with the organization's mission. Their primary purpose is to help clients save lives, prevent injuries and illnesses, and protect them from harm.

Requirements

  • Have the ability to conduct risk evaluations to determine loss potential, advise management to gain support and commit to improvements, and create realistic timeframes for operational improvements to make a positive impact.
  • Have a clear understanding and ability to review existing safety programs to assess their compliance and functional effectiveness.
  • Be able to conduct high-level senior management professional business communications (presentations, emails, letters, in-person meetings, report writing, and telephone). Client interactions may be one-on-one or in group settings where the goal is to foster collaboration and guidance.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to other Consultants and Staff, fostering their professional development Lead and manage complex, high-profile projects involving multiple stakeholders Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve team performance and service delivery
  • Advanced Expertise: Demonstrate thought leadership in risk management and safety practices through published articles, blogs, or similar Present at industry conferences and seminars as a subject matter expert Develop innovative, cutting-edge solutions for complex risk scenarios across various industries
  • Strategic Client Relationship Management: Coordinate services for complex clients using other Consultants and staff. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key accounts and high-profile clients Lead high-level client meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Client Safety Program Development and Management: Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive safety programs tailored to their client’s specific needs and industry requirements Conduct in-depth assessments of clients' existing safety programs, identifying gaps and areas for improvement Design and write customized safety manuals, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices Review and update existing client safety programs to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness Provide expert consultation on program integration, helping clients incorporate safety initiatives into their overall business strategies Develop and deliver training programs to support the implementation of new or revised safety protocols Conduct periodic audits of client safety programs to assess effectiveness and recommend enhancements
  • Advanced Analytical and Technical Skills: Conduct complex risk assessments using advanced statistical methods and data analysis techniques Develop prevention models for safety and risk management, incorporating machine learning and AI technologies Design and implement comprehensive risk management programs for large, complex organizations
  • Regulatory Expertise and Compliance Strategy: Serve as a subject matter expert on complex regulatory issues across multiple jurisdictions Advise clients on compliance strategies for challenging regulatory scenarios Develop and deliver training programs on regulatory topics for clients and internal teams
  • Innovation and Technology Integration: Stay abreast of emerging technologies in risk management and safety, including the use of artificial intelligence, wearables, and other tech tool Develop strategies to integrate new technologies into client programs
  • Demonstrate sound and rational judgment and practical problem-solving in a workplace or similar environment.
  • Ability to read English, comprehend technical and regulatory information, and articulate the information in verbal and written form.
  • An interest in working in a department providing health and safety advice.
  • Ability to work well within a team.

  • High School Diploma; or GED.
  • Have a minimum safety designation such as COSS, COHST, ARM, CRM, ALCM, CSHCO, CCSHCO, ASP, CSP, CRM, or others.
  • A minimum of 7 years as a loss control consultant (or equivalent related experience)
  • Become an active member of the American Society of Safety Professionals or a similar organization.
  • Prove proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and must be able to use the Internet as a research tool, including artificial intelligence.
  • Promotes data analytics and AI use in risk prediction, mitigation, and consulting.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license throughout their employment.
  • Must authorize enrollment in an Employers Pull Notice Program (DMV driving records) for the duration of employment.
  • Must have continuous access to a reliable, dependable, and safe vehicle and have the ability to drive on behalf of company business.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clients with onsite and virtual safety and risk management services.
  • Creates action plans for safety and risk management services, visiting (onsite or virtual) some clients several times per year.
  • Conducts loss control surveys onsite or virtual.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the client's hazard controls associated with their operations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in assigned safety areas or industries
  • Provides onboarding, training and mentoring to consultants and team members
  • Requires a solid understanding of workplace safety and risk principles and practices.
