About The Position

Halo is a technology company building the future of haircare for all textures through exceptional engineering and human-centered design. We create category-defining products built for the complexities others overlook. We're building HaloBraid, the world’s first braid assist device. It helps stylists finish braids 5 times faster, flawlessly and gently. This is one of the hardest unsolved problems in robotics, applied to the $270B salon services industry, and integrating computer vision, compliant fiber manipulation, and novel mechanisms. Billions of hours are spent braiding hair each year. HaloBraid gives that time back. Requirements

• Experience with motion control for a variety of actuator types (e.g. stepper motors, servo motors, brushed and brushless DC motors)
• Experience with Python and Embedded C/C++
• Experience implementing feedback control systems
• Experience with complex embedded systems
• Experience with computer vision, including system architecture, software development, integration, and testing
• Exposure to industry standard communication protocols (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART)

Nice To Haves

• Experience in implementing robust perception and computer vision solutions in high speed low-latency applications.
• Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g. Wi-Fi, 4G, Bluetooth, MQTT)
• Complementary engineering experience: Electronics prototyping and design, Machine learning, Software development, Mechanical design

Responsibilities

• Refine embedded systems and vision algorithms for a unique robotic/automation product, with a focus on robust solutions and efficient real-time algorithms
• Implement, test, debug, and document embedded systems design
• Collaborate with mechanical, design, and electrical engineers, as well as users
