Requirements

BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited College or University
A Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina is required, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
Proficiency in the design, preparation, and delivery of roadway design plans.
Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and NCDOT standards.
Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD.
Prior experience managing projects, including developing proposals and overseeing project timelines and budgets.
A background in mentoring or managing teams, with the ability to collaborate effectively and independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members alike.

Nice To Haves

NCDOT design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Take charge of the design and plan preparation for both highway and local road projects.
Lead internal quality reviews to ensure that plans meet the highest technical standards.
Provide guidance and feedback to junior engineers, helping them grow professionally.
Assist in preparing and negotiating project fee proposals.
Prepare design schedules, construction cost estimates, and deliver staged project submittals on time and within budget.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through presentations and regular communication.
Recognize scope changes and assist with contract negotiations when necessary.
Work closely with a talented team of engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to successfully execute transportation projects.
